As a PhD candidate you will be offered a full-time (38 hours/week) position as a member of the MCBP group for a maximum of four years, after which you should have completed your PhD thesis. In accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, the gross monthly salary for a PhD increases from € 2042 in the first year to €2612 in the final year plus a holiday allowance (8%), an end-year bonus (8.3% of the annual salary) and a number of additional benefits. The project team will consist of the PI, a postdoc (position filled), two PhD students, undergraduate students and support from technicians. The PhD positions, will be filled with candidates with complementary backgrounds covering. We expect that one master of (bio-)chemistry and one master of (technical/applied) physics will be the best match, but candidates with a master’s degree in related areas and experience in at least four of above-mentioned fields are also strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in electronics, programming (C#, ImageJ macros, LabView, Matlab) or mechanical engineering are also advantageous.
