Stockholm University is inviting applications for a PhD studentship for a project on ‘Theory of Quantum Matter” within the Department of Physics. Applicants must have studied at least four years at a University and have a BSc in Physics. These studies must include advanced courses in physics during one year and an advanced degree project. The 4-year PhD program includes at least 3 years of research and at most one year of course work. The position may be extended by up to 1 year if up to 20% teaching assistance or administration is included in the contract. During the whole education, the PhD student will be employed by Stockholm University, with a monthly salary at the start of 23 700 SEK. The application deadline is November 20, 2014.. The research group ‘Theory of Quantum Matter’ in the division for Condensed Matter and Quantum Optics, in the department of physics at Stockholm University, invites applications to a PhD position under supervision of Eddy Ardonne, with the subject topological phases of matter. At present, our group consists of four permanent members, a junior researcher, a post-doc and five Ph.D. students. They study various forms of quantum matter, in the context of solid state systems, as well as artificial ones, such as those that are formed in ultra cold gasses, and certain states in quantum-optics. The methods we use range from numerical and symbolic computations to quantum field theory calculations utilizing advanced concepts from geometry and topology.. Studentship is available for PhD program in the Department of Physics at Stockholm University.
